English in Action

This year, as in past years, extracurricular English activities fall under the “English in Action” umbrella. This includes activities aimed at students from a pragmatic point of view. Students learn quicker if they work with “reality”. Using real and tangible objects helps students connect to the language on a different level.

Por todo ello enfocaremos la enseñanza del inglés a través de actividades de tipo lúdico, a diferencia del inglés mayoritariamente académico que reciben en las aulas. Hemos dividido las actividades en 5 talleres a llevar a cabo durante el curso:

Arts and Crafts

Arts and crafts: this workshop aims to bring the student closer to English through crafts. Working with clay, paper mache, EVA foam… We can also contribute to other activities: creating puppets for theatre, making phones out of yoghurts to promote oral expression, make pots for gardening…
Gardening

Gameland

Through a traditional Anglo-Saxon game, students will develop their own version. This includes rules, pieces…to promote their creativity and imagination. Creativity and vocabulary will be boosted, relationships will be built through respect. The end product will be tangible proof for the student to see immediate cause and effect, which favors students’ interest.

Mad Lab

Through science experiments, students will experiment and discover. They will also practice oral expression and comprehension since they will not only watch the teacher do the experiment, students will do it themselves.

Vídeo Lab

This activity is based on role-playing-games created in groups and recorded on video. Role playing games help students stay active during learning. Communication and dialogue are developed at the same time as relationships and creativity. Students will create their own clothes and other scenography. Video lab includes film, theatre and other artistic expressions where students will expand their oral and body expression guided by teachers.
